The Rescue at Enerhauggata

The Son

This thread traces how clues about a murder network lead Simon Kefas to a traffickers’ holding address, and how an unauthorised raid turns into the rescue of imprisoned women.

A Clue to Nestor’s Men A witness at the river Lars Gilberg tells Simon Kefas and Kari Adel that two men in black suits killed Per Vollan on Sannerbrua and threw his body into the Aker River. Gilberg identifies the men as connected to Hugo Nestor, but fears retaliation if he is formally recorded as a witness. A pattern of intimidation The killing suggests that Nestor’s organisation can act openly and calmly in public. It also reinforces Simon’s belief that a larger criminal network has reach beyond the street-level dealers and that the police may not be able to protect informants reliably. The lead remains fragile Gilberg cannot identify the killers by face, and his account alone does not establish who ordered the murder. His testimony nevertheless gives the investigation a direction: a violent network is removing people who know too much, and the next witness may be in immediate danger.

An Anonymous Tip A location arrives Simon receives a text from someone calling himself The Son, directing the police to Enerhauggata 96. The message says that Nestor’s prisoners are there and urges Simon to hurry. Urgency against procedure Simon believes people are being held against their will, but he cannot identify the sender or independently verify the tip before acting. He asks for Delta to raid the address, then learns that the deployment has not been properly authorised. A risky decision When Pontius Parr cancels the operation, Simon decides to go in with Kari rather than wait until morning. The decision risks discipline and places both officers in danger, but Simon judges delay to be more dangerous for the people who may be confined inside.

Two Officers at the Door A forced approach Simon and Kari arrive at Enerhauggata 96 without the authorised Delta team. Simon enters alone and takes the man he finds there into the basement, where the smell and divided lock-up spaces suggest that people may recently have been held. The escape attempt The suspect appears to surrender, but uses the opportunity to signal for a van to drive. Simon is kicked down as the vehicle starts, and the hidden captives are carried toward the exit while he struggles to regain his footing. Kari stops the van Kari fires at the van, shattering its windscreen and stopping it before it can escape. The intervention changes the scene from a fruitless search into an immediate rescue, while exposing the cost of entering without the larger, better-supported team Parr had wanted.

Rescue in the Morning Light Prisoners in the vehicle Simon and Kari open the van and find frightened women inside. The captives have been kept out of sight, and their fear makes clear that the address was not merely a place where criminals stored drugs or money. Arrest and public attention The officers arrest the people at the house and summon other police units. Simon then calls the press, openly publicising the rescue before the Commissioner arrives and redirects attention toward the police’s action against trafficking. A public success and its limits The rescue gives the women a chance to leave confinement and puts the operation on record, but the people arrested are small players who are unlikely to expose the organisation above them. The event therefore resolves the immediate danger while leaving the larger network, and the question of who leaked the tip, unsettled.

The Network Reacts A warning from the hotel A man chained in a Plaza Hotel suite is freed by hotel staff and leaves just as the police prepare to raid Enerhauggata 96. Simon later understands that the man’s warning gave the traffickers time to move or conceal their exposed operation. The rescued women remain the priority The interruption does not reverse the rescue: the women are already in police hands. But the apparent leak shows how quickly information about police movements can travel through a criminal network, and how fragile a raid becomes when its target learns it is coming. The larger enemy survives Simon’s explanation points toward organised warning and corruption rather than an ordinary coincidence. Even after the captives are safe, the people who arrange their confinement remain beyond immediate reach, carrying the investigation into a wider conflict with the people inside the system who protect them.
